About Fishers Warracknabeal...
Warracknabeal is situated on the Henty Highway in the heart of Victoria's wheat-belt. Warracknabeal is a small town on the banks of Yarriambiack Creek some 331 km north-west of Melbourne with a current population of about 3000 people. The town's name apparently derives from an aboriginal expression meaning "place of big gums shading the water hole". Warracknabeal's main industry is still wheat but recent diversification have led to the cultivation of peas, canola, beans and the establishment of emu, ostrich and deer farms.
Warrackbeal was the first Supermarket Fishers had purchased outside of the Sunraysia area which at the time was considered a slight risk. With the almost instant success of the Supermarket, Fishers purchased the BP Fuel Station some 100m down the road.
