After a short, lets just say sabbatical, I’m back doing what
I like most, selling wine and writing the Wine Time newsletters.
I have so much planned for the wine club this year it’s quite
exciting, our cup is really spilling over with tours, tastings,
dinners and assorted fun nights that will be of great interest to
you, the wine/ beverage lover. So stay tuned for updates cause this
years going to be a cracker!
The first cab off the rank is the James Squire Beer Dinner
on Friday the 8th of April.
We haven’t finalized a venue as yet so stay tuned, but we
will be matching beers with a five course dinner and a brewer from
Lion Nathan will be present to fill in the blanks we all have about
the beer making process. It will be a fun evening, as you would
expect with a room full of our totally mad wine club members and
free beer! Register your interest now as places will be limited.
I will have all the info, venue/ price, included in the next newsletter,
but as always you can expect value for money with a capital V!
I should mention that this is a part of the Beer and Blues weekend
with a host of boutique breweries coming to town and a concert at
the old homestead on the Saturday. As soon as I get some more information
I’ll pass it on.
Speaking of beer, the Mildura Brewery is conducting a beaut
competition that’s drawn daily for the month of March.
A Dinner for two can be won each day just for buying a
6 pack of Mildura Brewery beer and putting your name and number
on the receipt then drop it into the box, it’s that easy!

Tasting
This Friday afternoon we have a special treat for
all of you that fancy a cheeky little New Zealand Sav Blanc!
In fact we have five different
wineries on taste;
Dog Point - Gisen - Palliser Estate - Mount Riley - Withers
Hill.
I don’t think there’s a better place to be Friday
arvo between 4.30 and 7pm, so
get on down and I’ll see you here. And of course we have our
usual prize for one lucky taster. This week I’m thinking just
how well Sav Blanc goes with fish so the prize this week is a fishing
rod, reel and tackle box to catch your own! ( diehards don’t
despair I’m throwing in a bottle of fizz as well!).
Last weeks tasting prize winner was Paul Danenberg, congrats
Paul you’ve won a magnum of Penfolds Koonunga Hill.
I was walking around the shop the other day (sometimes I do more
than just that!) and I noticed just how many Rose’s we stock,
and how popular they are becoming. Just for the typing practice
I thought Id list them all;
Miranda White Shiraz - $11.95
Trentham Autumn Red - $10.50
Banrock Station White Shiraz - $8.25
Zilzie Rose - $13.97
Wirra Wirra Mrs. Wigley - $17.97
DeBortolli Cabernet Rose - $14.45
Craggs Creek Rose - $13.95
Angoves Nine Vines Rose - $14.95
Jacobs Creek Shiraz Rose - $6.97
Eaglehawk Rose - $7.97
Deakin Rose - $9.95
Zontes Footstep Cabernet Petit Verdot - $14.95
Andrew Peace Rose - $11.25
Brown Brothers Tarrango - $11.95
As you can see we’ve pretty much got something for everyone,
and it’s just the right weather at the moment to sit under
a tree on the riverbank and sip on a Rose.
Drunk
James Halliday gives it 94 points and describes it
as citrus, nectarine and melon fruit on a light to medium bodied palate.
The back label talks of peaches, tropical fruit and balanced oak.
I say absolutely bloody beautiful, sharing a glass or two of this
delectable liquid whilst sitting outside with Kath and the kids eating
smoked salmon sushi, an absolute cracker...
