What a fabulous time we had on Saturday night at the Deborah Conway concert at Lock 11. Talk about a perfect night, not a breath of wind, cool but not cold.

We were sitting right at the front sipping good wine (Jamiesons Run Chardy and Zilzie Rose) and nibbling on a nice cheese platter.

The support acts were very good with Led Jelly doing a terrific cover of Paul Simons “Under African Skies”. But Deb was in another class altogether with a tight band and a great back catalogue. She played songs from her latest album Summertown which would have moved more than a few copies on the night and then finished with her hits including Alive and Brilliant, Only the Beginning and Man Overboard.

I’ve got to mention the guy playing the mandolin; he really rocked the show along and hammered out some smokin solos! It was an amazing night that will live in our memory for a long time. Its not often we get to see this calibre of talent at such a reasonable price and after this I’m going to make an effort to see more live music.

So I’ll be getting tickets for the Beer and Blues Festival on the 9th April, there’s going to be a full day of quality Blues acts , food and boutique beers. The old homestead lawns will be the venue, staggering distance home for me!
