It’s usually a funny and knowledgeable piece that I read every week. And in this weeks column he reaffirms what I have thought for a long while; about food and wine matching, that if your having spicy food and you want a red with it, make it a soft red that’s low on tannins and probably with a bit of age so as it doesn’t add bitterness and acidity to your meal. I’m soooo tired of reading foodies saying things like, “and
with that spicy chilli and pepper beef sausage I recommend a young
peppery Shiraz to compliment it”. I think most of us would
be reaching for the Mylanta if faced with this. I look to wine or
beer to balance the flavours of a meal, not to overload the taste

We’ve had good response to our search for applicants for the Fishers wine selection panel, but we still need some more applicants especially females, to balance out the panel. Now you don’t need any experience in wine tasting, all we need is your love of wine. So girls don’t be shy, drop us a line and get on to the panel.
Wine Expo NewsI’ve just counted through the submissions and we’re proud to announce there will be over one hundred and twenty wines to taste! That’s a hell a lot of sipping and spitting so get there early and pace yourselves. It kicks off at 11pm till 5pm at the Setts Saturday 30th July.
