No. 48 - Feb 2006

Whoa, there goes another week! And here we are again with lots of wine news reviews and upcoming tastings. My apologies for last week, the newsletter won't be by-monthly like I mistakenly put. We should have one out every week as per usual. Busy week this week, lots of tastings, lots of specials.

WINE TASTINGS

Finding lunch hour a tad boring? Don't think you can handle another trip to the supermarket for the umpteenth time this week? Pop into our Liquor Department and ask for a taste of our cleanskins. Merlot, Cab/Sav, Shiraz , Brut, Chardonnay and our No 1 seller, the Sauvignon Blanc. Tasting's will be available throughout the day for the next week or so. All are locally sourced and represent great value for money.

This Friday night at the regular time (4pm to 7pm). We have the Ampelon Rising Dust series. Fresh to our shelves and produced by reputable winemaker Bob Shields in sunny Gol Gol. Set behind the beautiful gardens of Ampelon with its towering trees and antique roses lies this small family owned vineyard. Both the Shiraz and the Chardonnay are hand picked from low yielding grapes and then carefully pressed to produce this wine of exceptional quality.

So come down this Friday and cap off a busy week with a taste of an outstanding example of a local wine.

Just been flicking through some of the wines in Winestate magazine, and saw some of our favourites that we have in stock here in the store. Both were rated quite highly.

De BORTOLI WINDY PEAK RIESLING 2004

Musky lemon aromatics on the nose – developing a nice toastiness. Delicious lime fruit palate has weight, fullness and structure, with good acid balance and a hint of sweetness on the finish. (Winestate Magazine Annual 06).

Rated 4.5 stars. Our price is $13.95.

De BORTOLI YARRA VALLEY CHARDONNAY 2004

The nose is tight, toasty and concentrated, with very apple/green melon aromas and subtle fresh oak support. Very youthful, beautiful, lightweight and balanced palate. Has a long way to go yet. ( Winestate Magazine Annual 06).

Rated 5 stars. Our price is $26.95.

Now, if you are chasing big savings and/or relief from the harsh Sunraysia sun this weekend. You can't go past a slab of our premium beers. The big premium beer sale finishes on Sunday night. Take a look these beauties…..

Another episode comes to an end. Hope everyone enjoyed last weeks tastings as much as I did, nice drop from Katnook Estate. The staff here all seemed to enjoy it after work Friday, nothing but good comments.

Enjoy the rest of the week everybody and see you shortly.
