No. 53 - March 2006

Winetime 53

Finally we can get back to our regular viewing programs on the television, no more Games. But I must say that our athletes performed well in front of their home crowd, with an unbeatable swag of medals. It was also good to see everybody else having a go.

So to relax after all the excitement of the games, this week we are going to have Michael in from the Wingara group with the Deakin Reserve range. We also review a couple of nice sparlings for those this in the mood for a bit of a celebration. So on we go with another busy week.

Wine Tastings

This Friday at the tastings area, we have Deakin Estate in with their Reserve range. The Reserve range consists of a Chardonnay, Shiraz Voigner, Petit Verdot and a Sparkling Shiraz. This range isn't as well known as their regular label, or as large, but has some interesting varieties and tastes as good, if not better than their regular label.

Deakin Estate Australia

Purchased in 1967, Deakin Estate was planted to premium wine grapes which were sold as fruit until 1980 when a winery facility was built. By the time the Deakin Estate range was launched in 1994 some vines had achieved considerable age, whilst newer vines were being planted. An ongoing regime of viticultural innovation accelerated, ensuring the high quality, varietally specific fruit that has underpinned the success of the brand.
