Winetime 61

The World Cup over, Australia out, Italy winning and the Bombers most definitely out of the finals race, I'm giving up on sport and my footy tips for that sake, for the rest of the year I reckon….

This week, we have a great new local wine range for tastings. Some more news and hopefully some more information about our upcoming tastings night.

WINE TASTINGS

Another newie to our shelves, on for tastings this week. From Chateau Mildura we have the Psyche Smuggler range.

Chateau Mildura Est. 1888

In 1887 Canadian brothers George and W B Chaffey established Irrigation colonies at Mildura and Renmark to produce a wide range of horticultural crops, on their own property on Belar Avenue Irymple they planted 150 acres of wine grapes and established Chateau Mildura, giving birth to an industry that in the Sunraysia and Riverland areas has grown to produce over 50% 0f Australia's wine grapes.

Chateau Mildura until 2002 was part of the company originally Mildura Wines Pty Ltd that has grown into Beringer Blass the worlds largest premium wine Company.
In 2002 it was purchased by 4th generation local horticulturist Lance Milne who has re-established table wine production and cellar door sales in the building.

Lance's Grand father and great grandparents were original settlers at Merbein when the area was opened for irrigation in 1913.
He has spent his working life producing a wide range of different horticultural crops and has a passion for the districts irrigation and horticultural heritage.
A large portion of the Chateau Mildura complex is also open as a museum.

NEWSFLASH

DeBortoli Tastings Night

I'm sorry I forgot to put the date in last week, it is in this one though. Also I'm organizing some tickets to be purchased from Ross or Anthony at either Deakin or Red Cliffs Fishers Liquor Departments, these must be purchased to gain entry to the venue.

We are offering to our valued subscribers a chance to taste some of DeBortoli Winery's most delectable wines and a teaser too what's on offer from them at this years Wine Expo with a range of reds and whites. Accompanied by their chief red wine winemaker for you to question. Etch the 27 th of July, a Thursday, into your little black books and watch this space for more info. Numbers are very limited, due to the rarity of the wines. Book early to avoid disappointment…

SPECIALS

Short and sweet this week. Stayed tuned for more news and events next week.

Until then, go bombers…..
